Limits and plans
Every limit you can reach, from tool calls and servers to sign-in links, and what raises each one.
Most limits come from your workspace's plan; the rest are the same for everyone. Each table says what a limit is today and where to change it.
Plans
| Hobby | Pay as you go | Pro | Scale | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, no card | Free, plus usage past the free calls | $19 a seat a month, or $190 a seat a year | From $499 a month, agreed with us |
| Tool calls a month | 50,000 | 50,000 free | 1,000,000, plus 500,000 per extra seat | Agreed |
| Past those calls | Tool calls stop until the month resets | $2 per 100,000, up to your spending cap | $2 per 100,000 | Agreed |
| Servers | 3 | 3 | 20, plus 5 per extra seat | Agreed |
| Logs kept | 7 days | 7 days | 30 days | 365 days |
Change plans on the Billing page. Turn on pay as you go adds a card to Hobby, Upgrade to Pro starts Pro, billed monthly or yearly, and Manage billing in Stripe changes or cancels a paid plan. For Scale, choose Talk to us on the pricing page.
Months are calendar months in UTC. Counts start again at 00:00 UTC on the 1st, and a stop lifts then.
Moving to a plan that keeps logs longer keeps the calls still there for longer; calls already removed don't come back. Moving to one that keeps them for less hides older calls at once. Moving to a plan with fewer servers keeps every server answering, but the newest ones past the limit take no deploys until you're back within it. Troubleshooting has the details.
Tool calls and spending
Only calls that run a tool count toward the month. Connecting to a server, listing its tools, and calls Sokie turns away don't.
| Limit | Today | Where to change it |
|---|---|---|
| Usage past your plan's calls | Billed in whole blocks of 100,000 tool calls, $2 a block | Fixed |
| Spending cap on pay as you go | $20 a month unless you change it; it can't be turned off | Billing, under Alerts and spending cap |
| Spending cap on Pro | None unless you set one | Billing, under Alerts and spending cap |
| Smallest spending cap | $2 | Fixed |
| Usage warning | At 80% of the month's limit | Billing on pay as you go and Pro, from 1% to 100%; fixed on Hobby |
A cap buys whole blocks past your free or included calls, rounded down. The default $20 on pay as you go is 10 blocks, so its tool calls stop at 1,050,000 for the month. Raising the cap lifts a stop straight away.
At the warning, Sokie tells you at the top of every page, in the CLI, and by email, once for each limit a month. On Pro with a cap, it warns at its included calls and again at the cap. Scale has no warning or stop of its own.
Calls to a server
| Limit | Today | Where to change it |
|---|---|---|
| Requests to one server from one caller | 120 a minute, and 20,000 a day | Fixed, on every plan |
| How long a tool waits for your API | 30 seconds, then the call fails with an error a client may retry | Fixed; on servers deployed since runtime 0.1.9 |
A test call's token (sokie call --production or --preview, and the Test tab) | Lasts 5 minutes; 30 tokens a minute per person | Fixed |
| One call in a test case Sokie runs | 30 seconds; a run stops calling cases after 6 minutes | Fixed |
Calls sokie logs prints | The latest 50 | --limit, up to 200 |
| How far back logs go | 7, 30 or 365 days | Your plan |
A caller is the person a token names, or on a public server, the network address a call comes from. Every request to /mcp counts toward the rate limit, connecting and listing tools included. Days are UTC days. Past either limit, the call is refused with a 429 that says when to try again, and other callers carry on.
Servers and deploys
| Limit | Today | Where to change it |
|---|---|---|
A server's name, in the app and as name in sokie.json | 1 to 64 characters | Fixed |
| Files a deploy reads | 2,000, sokie.json and the spec included | Fixed |
| All definition files together | 16 MiB | Fixed |
| The spec, as JSON | 14 MiB | Fixed |
| The spec, as YAML or GraphQL | 2 MiB | Commit a YAML spec as JSON to get the JSON limit |
| Any other file | 1 MiB | Fixed |
| Deploys at once | One for production, and one for each pull request's preview | Fixed |
How long sokie deploy waits | 5 minutes, then it hands over to the app | --no-wait returns once it's queued |
| A deploy that never finishes | Marked failed, TIMED_OUT, when another deploy starts after it's 15 minutes old | Fixed |
| Deploy keys | 20 per server, each named in 1 to 80 characters | Revoke one to make another |
Tools
| Limit | Today | Where to change it |
|---|---|---|
| Tools before clients search instead of listing | Past 40 tools, sokie init and the New server page set "discovery": "search" | settings.discovery in sokie.json |
| Tools a search returns | 10, or up to 100 when the client asks | The client's limit |
| Tags on one tool | 8 | Fixed |
Specs on the New server page
| Limit | Today | Where to change it |
|---|---|---|
| Specs read and not yet made into servers | 20 at once, each kept a day | Make a server from one, or wait a day |
| A spec read from a URL | https only, an answer within 20 seconds, at most 3 redirects, up to 14 MiB, and never from an address inside a network | Paste or drop the file instead |
| Tools shown one by one | 500; past that, the rest deploy as the spec describes them | Edit them after the server is made |
| A description you can edit there | 2,000 characters; a longer one is shown cut | Edit it after the server is made |
Secrets and keys
| Limit | Today | Where to change it |
|---|---|---|
| A secret's name | Capital letters, digits and underscores, starting with a letter, up to 64 characters, and not starting with SOKIE_ | Fixed |
| A secret's value | 5 KB | Fixed |
| A caller's own key for your API | 4 KB | Fixed |
Sign-ins
| Limit | Today | Where to change it |
|---|---|---|
| An MCP client's access | A token lasts 15 minutes, and the client renews it while it's used | Fixed |
| An MCP client left unused | Can't renew after 90 days without use | Fixed |
| A CLI sign-in | 30 days from when you approve it, or 7 days without use | Settings › CLI sign-ins, from 1 to 90 days and from 1 to 30 days; sokie config can only shorten them |
| A sign-in link by email | Works once, for 10 minutes; 5 links an hour to one address | Fixed |
| Starting a GitHub or Google sign-in | 10 a minute from one network address | Fixed |
| Your GitHub sign-in in the link dialog | Kept 15 minutes at most | Fixed |
How clients sign in explains client tokens, and the CLI reference covers sokie config.
